The project represents a full renovation of an existing 1650 SF townhouse built in 1920 in the Gray’s Ferry neighborhood of South Philadelphia. CCAA provided architectural design, construction drawings and permitting for the project. The interior architectural design strived for an open and practical floor plan. The exterior design aimed to give the existing façade uplift, while preserving the existing ornamentation and detailing. The basement was finished, which necessitated the lowering of the existing basement floor and the partial underpinning of the existing foundation walls. Subsequently, a spacious exterior emergency egress well was also added. The underpinnings of the existing foundation along with the addition of the exterior light well were challenging.
